Spearfishing with the Bajau tribe
The Bajau laut are often referred to as "sea gypsies" or "sea nomads" due to their migratory seafaring practices. Believed to have evolved biologically to possess larger spleens, many of them are known to be able to hold their breath underwater for up to 10 minutes as they freedive in the ocean. We travelled to a remote island chain in Sulawesi, Indonesia, and spent some time in a sea gypsy village, where we joined the Bajaus for an exciting midnight spearfishing trip!
